Celebrated in association with UNESCO.<\/p>\n<p>In 2022 we will celebrate the centenary of the birth of Juri Lotman (1922-1993), renowned Russian-Estonian semiotician, literary scholar and cultural historian. Lotman was the professor of Russian literature at the University of Tartu, and one of the founders of the Tartu-Moscow school of semiotics . Together with his colleagues he laid the foundation for a new scientific discipline \u2013 semiotics of culture. In 1990 Lotman was elected an academician of semiotics of culture to the Estonian Academy of Sciences.
